From the spirit of Zen and the beauty in the nature of simple forms, Raku is a technique of Japanese origins, capable of enhancing the harmony of aesthetics.
Linked to the tea ceremony, a ritual performed with poor elements, the Japanese term raku means " comfortable, relaxed, pleasant, joy of living" , and derives from the suburb of Kyoto where the clay was extracted in the sixteenth century.
The decorative effect is characterised by metallic reflections, obtained from the unique double firing process (biscuit firing), during which the piece, after being modelled and fired, undergoes a strong thermal shock, and is subsequently fired again using copper oxide.
